Frequently asked questions

About Schrieversheideweg 81, Heerlen

Is €754 a fair rent for this apartment?

The rent is €754 per month, which is higher than the neighbourhood average of €459. However, that average is based on just one other rental, so it's not a strong comparison. The apartment is social housing, so the rent is regulated and set by the housing association. Given the compact size (56 m²) and the limited supply in Nieuw-Einde, the price is in line with what you'd expect for a social-rent property in this area.

What is the energy label and what does it mean?

The energy label is C. That is a mid-range label, meaning the home is reasonably efficient but not top-tier. You can expect moderate energy costs. The label is an official registration from EP-Online, so it reflects the building's energy performance as registered.

How is the neighbourhood for daily life?

Nieuw-Einde is a quiet, residential area with a mix of ages. The nearest supermarket (Lidl) is just around the corner, and there are several schools within walking distance. The neighbourhood has a GP practice and a restaurant nearby. Public transport is available, with a train station 4 km away. It's a practical, no-frills area for everyday living.

Is this apartment suitable for a single person or a couple?

With 56 m² of floor area, this apartment is compact. It is best suited for a single person or a couple without children. The neighbourhood has many single-person households (310 out of 697 homes), so it fits the local profile.

How does the size compare to other rentals in the area?

The floor area of 56 m² is 41% smaller than the neighbourhood average of 95 m² for rentals. That makes it one of the smaller options available. If you're looking for more space, you may need to look at other neighbourhoods or consider a different property type.

What is the public transport like?

The nearest train station is 4 km away, so you would need a bus or bike to reach it. For local travel, the neighbourhood is moderately urban, so cycling is a practical option.

In the neighbourhood there are many cultured people, very cosy! The only downside is that there are also antisocial people living here.. and they don't give a damn about anything or anyone.. there is little parking space right in front of my door, which is really not pleasant, the neighbourhood itself is quite close-knit and everyone enjoys chatting with each other during New Year's or a summer day. There is hardly any greenery here and there, some bushes here and there but that's about it.. luckily they are busy renovating and greening the part where we live, so that's something I consider a plus point for the neighbourhood. Unfortunately, it's often the case that houses have overdue maintenance due to landlords or people who simply don't care about what their house looks like.

A safe neighbourhood

Something happens in every neighbourhood now and then, but I still think the neighbourhood is safe.

It's a cosy but scary neighbourhood with a lot of crime.

I think I live in a neighbourhood that can be cosy, but there are many fights, shootings and a lot of crime here, which often goes unaddressed. In terms of education, facilities, nature and many other things, it's a top neighbourhood. With the Weggebekker and the Brunssummerheide around the corner, there is plenty of forest.
