Lively and from young to old it makes it much more fun to live here

It is a social neighbourhood of students, young people, families and many single people. People greet each other easily. With the many pubs it is lively, little going on. I experience it as a social neighbourhood where people are there for each other and easily strike up a conversation. I feel safe here in the neighbourhood and don't mind taking a walk in the evening. Many shops, GPs, pharmacy, supermarket, hairdressers and dining options. Also very nice that there are children living in the area and the community centre is always nice to stay with many activities.

Cosy

It's a cosy and, in my opinion, fairly safe neighbourhood. I've never felt uncomfortable, at least. Not during the day or late at night. I don't experience much nuisance and am otherwise very happy with the place where I live.

Nice

Oosterpoort is a nice neighbourhood, lately there have been some strange people hanging around, but nothing to worry about. It's relatively far from the city and we're a bit in our own village in Groningen. But then you're still in the centre in 5 minutes, mate.

Frequently asked questions

About Van Sijsenstraat, Groningen

Is €500 a fair price for this room?

At €500 per month, this room is priced well below the neighbourhood average rent of €1,558 for all rental homes. However, rooms typically cost less than whole apartments. The average room rent in the neighbourhood is €534, so this is slightly below that. Given that the exact size is unknown, it's hard to compare per square metre, but the price is in line with what rooms go for here.

How quickly do rooms in Oosterpoort get rented?

Homes in this neighbourhood are rented out in an average of 19 days, which indicates a fairly fast market. For rooms specifically, the data doesn't give a separate timeline, but the overall speed suggests you should be prepared to decide promptly if you're interested.

What is the neighbourhood like for students?

Oosterpoort is very popular with students: about a third of residents are between 15 and 25 years old. The area has a lively atmosphere with many pubs, restaurants and shops. Residents describe it as social and safe, with good contact between neighbours. It's a short walk to the city centre and the main train station is a ten-minute walk away.

What amenities are near Van Sijsenstraat?

A PLUS supermarket is just around the corner (231 m), and a Jumbo is a couple of streets away (759 m). There are several primary schools within walking distance, including IKC Borgman Oosterpoort (404 m) and Dr Bekenkamp school (233 m). Restaurants are very close (200 m), and a GP and pharmacy are about 500 m away. The train station is 1 km away.

Why are there no property details in this listing?

Kamernet has published only the street and price for this room. As a result, the exact location within the street and some neighbourhood figures may differ from the actual home.

Is this a student room or a regular rental?

The listing is for a 'kamer' (room), which is typically rented to students or young professionals. The price of €500 and the fact it's listed on Kamernet, a platform for rooms, confirm this. The property type is not a self-contained apartment but a room within a shared house or building.
