Life in Lith

Lith is a village where people know each other. One resident says: "The neighbourhood is friendly, helpful and caring. The children can play outside nicely." Another describes a "togetherness, we give and care for each other" with an annual street BBQ, though notes there is little for young children to do. A third review is less positive, calling it a "minimal neighbourhood" with fast traffic and only one shop. Based on four reviews, the picture is mixed: a close-knit street but limited amenities for kids. Most homes are owner-occupied (73%) and the area is predominantly made up of families with children.

Daily life on the street

For your morning bread run, the PLUS supermarket is just around the corner. The nearest primary school, Rooms Katholieke Basisschool De Meander, is also a five-minute walk away, so school runs are easy on foot. A second primary school, Basisschool Sint Jozef, is a bit further. The village has a GP practice and a library within walking distance, and a park or public garden is just a couple of streets away. Minimal neighbourhood

Not social, no thought given to children who go to school elsewhere because all activities go through the school. Only 1 shop in the neighbourhood. People drive too fast in the neighbourhood. So I find it very unpleasant and unsafe.

Togetherness, we give and care for each other

I'm mainly talking about our street and the area around it. About that I can say that we fortunately still look out for each other, that we dare to ask each other for help, and that we have an annual street BBQ to promote and/or strengthen togetherness. However, there is little for young children to do, which is a shame, because we all have our (grand)children and in the neighbourhood they can hardly let off steam. For the elderly, it's a wonderful neighbourhood.

Lovely village to live in

Beautiful quiet village. You do have to be sociable yourself to be fully accepted. Recently a new housing estate was added. But the old Lith remains truly Lith. Nice cycling/walking area. Lovely and quiet. 1 supermarket, unfortunately often on the pricey side. 1 bakery, lovely but expensive. Public transport is available but not very frequent. Close to the cities of Oss and Den Bosch is also within reach.

Frequently asked questions

About Melkdam 11, Lith

Is €409,000 a fair price for this terraced house?

The asking price of €409,000 is 46% below the average asking price in Lith (€751,413), but the home is also smaller than average at 107 m² versus 208 m². The price per square metre works out at about €3,822, which is slightly above the neighbourhood average of €3,703 per m². So while the total price is low, you are paying a bit more per square metre for a compact, energy-efficient home.

What is the energy label and what does it mean?

The home has energy label A, which is very efficient. In Lith, 43.5% of homes have label A, so this is in line with the most common standard. You can expect relatively low heating costs compared to older homes with lower labels.

How is the neighbourhood for families with children?

Reviews are mixed. Some residents praise the friendly, caring atmosphere and say children can play outside nicely. Others note that there is little for young children to do in the neighbourhood, and that activities often go through the school. The nearest primary school is a five-minute walk away, and there are several within 5 km. The area has many families with children (40% of households have kids), so it is a family-oriented village overall.

What shops and amenities are nearby?

The PLUS supermarket is just 500 metres away, so daily groceries are within walking distance. There is also a GP practice, a library, and a park or public garden all within about 700 metres. For a wider range of shops, you would need to travel to Oss or other nearby towns. The village itself has limited retail, as one resident noted only one shop.

How far is the train station?

The nearest train station is 9.1 km away, so it is not within walking distance. You would need a bike, car, or bus to reach it. The village is more car-dependent for longer journeys.

What is the garden like?

The property has a plot of 188 m², which includes a garden.
