Current rental prices and available supply can be found at the top of this page.

Delden: a village where everyone knows each other, but the hairdresser is sometimes far away

Delden is a compact, green Twente village with a distinct character. It has a historic centre with the imposing Twickel estates in the background, wide avenues and a peaceful atmosphere that is hard to find in larger cities. Residents give Delden an average score of 7.4 on the Delden neighbourhood page, where you can also read the full reviews and neighbourhood data. What immediately stands out in the reviews: community spirit scores a remarkable 9.0 and the beauty of the surroundings also gets a 9. Residents describe Delden as a place where people still look out for each other and where the village takes pride in looking good.

Yet the picture is not all rosy. Amenities score only 5.0, and that is recognisable for those who live there. For a wide range of shops, a hospital or a cinema, you have to go to Hengelo or Almelo. Education also scores a mediocre 6.0, although there are primary schools in the village. Accessibility gets a 7.0: Delden has its own train station on the Hengelo-Almelo line, making commuting to larger cities quite feasible. By car, you can quickly reach the motorway via the A35. Safety scores a 7.0, which is a solid score for a village of this size.

The neighbourhoods within Delden vary considerably in character. The liveliest part is found in the centre, where shops, hospitality and the historic streets come together. Those who prefer a quieter place to live can look at Sint Annabrink or the greener edges of the village such as Vogelweiden. Vossenbrink en De Braak is also a quiet residential neighbourhood popular with families and the elderly. The largest age group in Delden is 65-plus with over 2,200 residents, which partly explains the quiet, village-like atmosphere. Rental homes in Delden therefore mainly attract people who consciously choose that pace.

Renting in Delden: who is this village suitable for, and who is it not?

Delden is most suitable for renters who consciously choose a quiet village with a strong sense of community, a green environment and a reasonable connection to Hengelo and Almelo via the train station. Think of couples without children, the elderly and people who work from home or have no daily need for urban amenities. For those who depend on a wide range of shops within walking distance, or for young families who place great value on schools and childcare nearby, Delden may be less obvious. Moreover, the free-sector supply is small, so those who want flexibility in renting have fewer choices here. Would you rather consider buying? Beautiful clean neighbourhood

It's a beautiful neighbourhood with lots of greenery. 2 nice primary schools, but only 1 secondary school in the area for the first 2 years. Very clean neighbourhood. There are few amenities in the area, there are playgrounds but no small supermarket or shop. It is easily accessible to the motorway and other shops in the centre.
