Pieterswijk is a lively central neighbourhood with a strong student presence. Over 45% of residents are between 15 and 25, and most households are single-person. One resident describes it as "busy but cosy": "It's right in the centre of Leiden, between the 3 associations. There's not only daytime bustle from tourists but also in the evening from all the students walking through the neighbourhood. Personally, I find it very cosy and not disturbing." The same resident notes that getting around by car can be tricky, and that greenery is limited. For more on the area, see the neighbourhood Pieterswijk.
Daily life here is centred on the city centre. For groceries, Ekoplaza is just around the corner, Hoogvliet is a couple of streets away, and Dekamarkt and Albert Heijn are within a five-minute walk. Primary schools like Haanstra Basisschool and OBS Lucas van Leyden are also a short walk away. The neighbourhood is packed with restaurants and cafés, and the train station is a ten-minute walk. For more about the city, see the municipality Leiden.

It's right in the centre of Leiden, between the 3 associations. There's not only daytime bustle from tourists but also in the evening from all the students walking through the neighbourhood. Personally, I find it very cosy and not disturbing. Furthermore, there are plenty of nice little restaurants and a supermarket nearby. You live close to the water and the Hortus, so there's plenty to do. Unfortunately, getting into this neighbourhood by car is a bit of a course because you're not allowed everywhere and sometimes you have to take huge detours. In my opinion, there isn't enough greenery in the neighbourhood; we do have a park, but more trees could be planted in the streets and surroundings. Most of the greenery is often from the people who live there, not from the municipality. Otherwise, I'd say the housing situation is fine. There are some association houses, owner-occupied houses, and plenty of rental properties.
