A penthouse with a price tag to match

This 212 m² apartment on Broerenstraat is a rare find in Arnhem's Markt neighbourhood. Built in 2019, it's a modern home in a historic setting. At €1,195,000, it's the most expensive of the 15 homes currently for sale in the area and sits 134% above the average asking price of €510,900, so it's clearly on the high side. For context, apartments in Arnhem vary widely, but this one is in a league of its own.

Markt: city living with a trade-off

Markt is the heart of Arnhem's centre, with 1,605 residents packed into a very urban area (4,109 addresses per km²). It's a young crowd: half are between 25 and 45, and most households are singles. Two residents shared their thoughts. One, from 'The 7 streets', says: 'I have lived on the Eiland since 2003 and have seen it grow to what it is now. Very proud to see your neighbourhood grow like this and maintain good contacts with the entrepreneurs and residents.' Another, from 'Centre side', adds: 'I love living on the edge of the city, you're so close to all the shops and terraces. There's also a nice park around the corner. What's missing here is the real neighbourhood feel because it's not a cosy residential area.' Based on two reviews, the neighbourhood Markt scores a 7.32, decent, but not everyone finds the community vibe.

Daily life on Broerenstraat

For your morning bread run, SPAR is just around the corner, and Albert Heijn is a couple of streets away. Ekoplaza and PLUS are also within a five-minute walk. If you have kids, Montessorischool De Binnenstad is a couple of streets away, and Jenaplan basisschool de Sterrenkring is a five-minute walk. The municipality Arnhem has plenty of options, but these are the closest. A park is just around the corner, and the train station is a ten-minute walk, handy for trips out of town.
