A compact apartment in Beek

This two-bedroom apartment on Frans Erensstraat is a rare find in Beek. At €180,000, it's the cheapest of the 65 homes currently for sale in the neighbourhood and 56% below the average asking price of €412,831. That's partly because the floor area (52 m²) is 64% smaller than the neighbourhood average, so you're paying for a smaller home. For context, apartments in Beek typically sell for around €3,123 per m².

The neighbourhood: Beek

Beek is a mixed residential area with a population of 8,365. It's a fairly urban setting (density 1,215 addresses per km²), with a mix of families and older residents. One resident describes the area as having lost some community spirit after renovations: "Although the homes have been renovated, not to full satisfaction. It has also caused the sense of community and contact with neighbours to disappear." They also note issues with youth boredom and vandalism. That said, the neighbourhood Beek has good amenities within walking distance.

The municipality Beek offers a range of local services, including a GP practice and a library.

Although the homes have been renovated, not to full satisfaction. It has also caused the sense of community and contact with neighbours to disappear. Previously, you could sit comfortably on the gallery on nice days, but due to the renovation, the galleries are a good 25 cm narrower, so sitting outside is no longer an option. There is a balcony at the rear, but with warmer temperatures it is unbearable there. Some activities are organised, but residents are no longer interested because vandalism has regularly occurred. The older youth are bored and that leaves traces. There are also frequent illegal activities. A real shame for a beautiful neighbourhood.
