The neighbourhood is very diverse, all kinds of people from all countries who were once brought together in Katwijk. It is number one, a very safe neighbourhood; I forgot to close my car window, it was open all night and really nothing happened. Whichever window I look out of, everywhere green, the diversity of birds is enormous. I look out over the Rhine, surrounded by greenery and especially on summer days lots of boats and picnic spots, some you have to make yourself but there are also plenty of benches. I always said I would never want to live here, my husband thought this spot was meant for us and within a month we had the certainty that we could live here. WONDERFUL,

Our flat is nicely laid out, a safe feeling, beautiful view over the Rhine, people always cycling by, boats mooring and all kinds of cultures and people of all colours, young and old. Shops in the neighbourhood, chats with neighbours and also helpful to each other, very nice. Our house has a wide balcony that spans two rooms, so quite a lot of outdoor space. Sometimes the rubbish container is full and it does happen that a bag is left, but that probably happens everywhere. And because many boats moor and sail away again, there is often litter along the waterfront.

Nice and beautiful surroundings

I've been living here for 1.5 years with great pleasure. I'm probably a lucky one; I lived in a neighbourhood by the sea for over 33 years, but because it was a big house and we were getting older, we ended up here to our full satisfaction. I'm not afraid here; it's a neighbourhood with many cultures, many different ages, and schools nearby. From my front windows, I see boats sailing by on the Rhine, and now and then a boat where people go picnicking on the grass field in front of the house. From the balcony, people cycle past on a neatly constructed cycle path. I never thought I would enjoy it so much here. You can easily cycle to other villages; the main road runs alongside, but the view is magnificent.
