You live here literally on and around the central market square, among monumental facades, narrow streets and historic buildings, most of which date from the 17th and 18th centuries. Many homes are upper-floor apartments or flats in a renovated building, sometimes with original features such as beam ceilings or stained glass. New-build is scarce here; it mainly involves adapted historic buildings. The atmosphere is urban, compact and lively, without the hustle and bustle of a big city.

Cycling is the fastest option in this compact city: everything is within a few minutes. Parking is a point of attention, however. In the city centre, paid parking and a permit system apply.
