Rental homes in Windesheim, Zwolle

People feel like Windesheimers first, then Zwolle residents. I've been living here for over 40 years with great pleasure in an old house, which is hard to insulate, or actually a lot can be done, but at 75 and 81 we'd rather spend our money on nicer things in life, even if it means paying a bit more for energy. The next generation can do the rest, just as we did when we arrived here in 1981. The neighbourhood is quiet, lots of nature nearby, and still "noaberschap" (neighbourliness), looking out for each other, watching each other's pets and children, etc.

It's fine to sleep there and to go to the forest and enjoy nature, but as soon as you need something from a shop, you have to cycle half an hour to the nearest shop. The bus runs once an hour and is often late, and it's also becoming increasingly irregular; the NS app says it no longer runs on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If you need to go somewhere like Deventer, you first have to cycle 45 minutes to get to the station and then still take the train. Basically, to sum it up, it's fine to live there, but if you want contact with the outside world, it's very difficult and slow.
