Living in De Rompert, Den Bosch

De Rompert is a quiet, green residential neighbourhood in the northern part of Den Bosch, built in the 1960s and 1970s. Driving through it for the first time, you see wide streets with mature trees, well-maintained front gardens, and a mix of terraced houses and semi-detached homes built on a human scale. It is not a neighbourhood that stands out for architectural highlights, but rather proves its worth through the peace and social cohesion that has been built up over decades.

The residents are on average somewhat older: the largest age group consists of over-65s, followed by 45-65 year-olds. You notice this in the atmosphere. It is not a neighbourhood with many nightlife options or trendy coffee shops, but it is a neighbourhood where people know each other, where it is quiet in the evenings, and where children still play outside. The 25-45 year-olds are also represented, indicating a gradual influx of young families who appreciate the space and affordability.

For daily shopping, you hardly need to leave the neighbourhood. Within a short bike ride, you will find shops along the Koningsweg and the nearby Helftheuvelpassage shopping centre, which houses supermarkets, a pharmacy, and various service providers. The same applies to schools: several primary schools are accessible in the immediate vicinity, including schools in neighbouring neighbourhoods such as De Haren and De Slagen. Sports clubs are well represented, with football and tennis clubs within cycling distance.

Accessibility is a clear plus point. Bus lines connect De Rompert quickly to the centre of Den Bosch and the central station, from where you can be in Utrecht or Eindhoven within an hour. By car, the connection to the A2 and A59 can be made within minutes, which suits commuters to Tilburg, Eindhoven, or Utrecht well. Cycling to the city centre takes a quarter of an hour or less.

Residents give the neighbourhood an overall score of 7.8 out of 10, based on reviews via the neighbourhood page of De Rompert. Safety, accessibility, community, green spaces, and amenities all score 8.0. One resident writes: "De Rompert is exactly what you want if you want to live quietly but still have everything at hand. Neighbours know each other, it is safe and green." The lower scores for beauty (7.0) and education (7.0) indicate that there is room for improvement on those points, although the absolute scores are still more than adequate.

Compared to sister neighbourhoods such as De Buitenpepers or De Reit, De Rompert has a slightly quieter and more established character. Those looking for more dynamism or considering a different type of home can also look at the broader supply within the Noord district. The municipality of Den Bosch also provides information about spatial developments and facilities in the neighbourhood via denbosch.nl.

Who is a home for sale in De Rompert interesting for?

Nice, quiet and safe

We have been living here for 2.5 years now and are very happy that we made the choice to move here. It is a nice, quiet and safe neighbourhood. The only thing that bothers us occasionally is that not everyone cleans up their rubbish/mess, but that could also be people who don't live here. Some people drive very fast on a road where the speed limit is 30 km/h.
