A neighbourhood with many different types of people

I notice that in our area there is quite often nuisance from homeless people or loitering youths. I hear from the older residents in the neighbourhood that they don't like to go out alone because they don't feel very safe. I don't experience this myself, but I grew up in Heerlen and I can definitely stand my ground. Overall, it's reasonably quiet in the neighbourhood. Apart from a few incidents. I think it's a pleasant neighbourhood because it's easily accessible to the supermarket, the centre, the station, etc. I must admit, though, that when it's dark I also prefer not to walk alone. The hygiene in the neighbourhood could, in my opinion, be much better. The bins are often overflowing and smell very bad, and as a result you see rats and such more often. And as for greenery, I find it quite disappointing here. Many trees have been removed, etc. There used to be much more green and nature.
