Westerhaghe is a charming and lively place with a rich history and a strong sense of community. Located in the municipality of Katwijk, close to the dunes and the coast, it combines the best of tranquillity and accessibility. The neighbourhood exudes a village atmosphere, where people know each other and life moves just a little slower. What makes my neighbourhood special is the mix of historic charm and modern amenities. The centre is cosy and compact, with local shops and pleasant eateries. The location is also ideal: cities like Leiden and The Hague are within easy reach, while at home you enjoy the peace and space of a smaller community. The Bollenstreek is just around the corner, making it extra special in spring with all those colourful fields in bloom. In short, it is a nice, safe and warm neighbourhood where tradition and progress go hand in hand.

Cosy, friendly and relaxed

We have a lot of greenery, a good supermarket, safe neighbourhood, quiet neighbourhood, more shops in the area such as in Valkenburg and Rijnsburg.

The neighbourhood is very diverse, all kinds of people from all countries who were once brought together in Katwijk. It is number one, a very safe neighbourhood; I forgot to close my car window, it was open all night and really nothing happened. Whichever window I look out of, everywhere green, the diversity of birds is enormous. I look out over the Rhine, surrounded by greenery and especially on summer days lots of boats and picnic spots, some you have to make yourself but there are also plenty of benches. I always said I would never want to live here, my husband thought this spot was meant for us and within a month we had the certainty that we could live here. WONDERFUL,

Good, quiet, lots of green, supermarket nearby

Our flat is nicely laid out, a safe feeling, beautiful view over the Rhine, people always cycling by, boats mooring and all kinds of cultures and people of all colours, young and old. Shops in the neighbourhood, chats with neighbours and also helpful to each other, very nice. Our house has a wide balcony that spans two rooms, so quite a lot of outdoor space. Sometimes the rubbish container is full and it does happen that a bag is left, but that probably happens everywhere. And because many boats moor and sail away again, there is often litter along the waterfront.
