NeighbourhoodThis 93 m² apartment on Lijnbaanstraat 27 sits in a lively, no-nonsense part of Zaandam. Built in 1960 and with energy label C, it's a solid home that needs a bit of TLC, the kind of place where you can put your own stamp on things. At €375,000, the asking price is slightly below the neighbourhood average of €410,636, making it a keen entry into the local market. For context, apartments in Zaanstad typically sell for around €4,412 per m².
The neighbourhood Prins Hendrikbuurt is a dense, urban area with a strong sense of community, though it's not without its rough edges. One resident describes it as a "Volksklusbuurt aan de zaan": "Messy neighbourhood, generally nice people but could do with more pulling together... almost everyone has a fast life here." They note that the streets could be tidier, with rubbish from all the DIY projects. On the plus side, there are plenty of local amenities: primary schools, secondary education within cycling distance, restaurants, cafés, a supermarket, and the river Zaan for walks. The neighbourhood feels reasonably safe, and residents would help if needed. Green space is somewhat lacking, but that's the Randstad for you. The area is home to many single-person households and a mix of ages, with a high proportion of pre-war housing.
For your morning bread, Dekamarkt is on your doorstep, with Vomar and AH XL just around the corner. There are two primary schools within a five-minute walk: ICBS het Zaanplein and OBS Herman Gorter. The municipality Zaanstad offers further amenities like a restaurant just a couple of streets away and a park or public garden within a five-minute stroll. The train station is a ten-minute walk, and the city centre of Zaandam is close by.
At the time of writing, the home is listed through several channels, including Saen Garantiemakelaars Zaandam.

Messy neighbourhood, generally nice people but could do with more pulling together (including myself), almost everyone has a fast life here, it would be nice if people were sometimes less rushed and took it easy doing something for someone else, this could be something very small like greeting someone kindly or letting someone go ahead. The neighbourhood could also be a bit tidier in some places, there is rubbish lying in the streets, also from all the DIY that goes on a lot. Furthermore, there are primary schools in the area but they are very full. Also secondary education which is not far by bike. There are restaurants, cafés, lunch spots, a supermarket, bike repair shop, hairdresser, much more and the city of course, which is very close. Also there is regularly a nice party at the Burcht and the river Zaan is nice to walk along. The neighbourhood feels reasonably safe, if something unpleasant were to happen that is seen by residents, I am quite sure they would come to help if needed. Green space is unfortunately somewhat lacking, in principle logical because it's the Randstad but I think it could easily be a lot greener, especially the gardens.
