Prins Hendrikbuurt, Zaanstad
NeighbourhoodThis terraced house on Krugerstraat has a lived-in feel that matches its 1924 origins. With 76 m² of floor space and a 65 m² plot, it's a compact home in a neighbourhood where most houses are older too. Prins Hendrikbuurt is a lively, urban area with a mix of people and a bit of a rough edge. One resident describes it as a "Volksklusbuurt aan de zaan", a DIY neighbourhood by the river, where people are generally nice but could pull together more. They note that the streets could be tidier, with rubbish from all the home improvement projects. Green space is limited, but the river Zaan offers a pleasant walk. The neighbourhood feels reasonably safe, and residents would help if needed. Based on this single review, the neighbourhood scores a 7.25 out of 10. Most homes here were built before 1945, and about half are owner-occupied. For more context, see the Prins Hendrikbuurt neighbourhood.
For daily groceries, the Dekamarkt is just around the corner, and an AH XL is a five-minute walk away. There are several primary schools within walking distance, including OBS Herman Gorter and ICBS het Zaanplein, both a couple of streets away. Secondary education is a short bike ride. Restaurants and cafés are on your doorstep, and the city centre of Zaandam is close by. The area is densely built up, typical of the Randstad, but the park or public garden is a ten-minute walk. For more on the wider area, see the municipality of Zaanstad.
At the time of writing, the home is listed through several channels, including Saen Garantiemakelaars Zaandam.

Messy neighbourhood, generally nice people but could do with more pulling together (including myself), almost everyone has a fast life here, it would be nice if people were sometimes less rushed and took it easy doing something for someone else, this could be something very small like greeting someone kindly or letting someone go ahead. The neighbourhood could also be a bit tidier in some places, there is rubbish lying in the streets, also from all the DIY that goes on a lot. Furthermore, there are primary schools in the area but they are very full. Also secondary education which is not far by bike. There are restaurants, cafés, lunch spots, a supermarket, bike repair shop, hairdresser, much more and the city of course, which is very close. Also there is regularly a nice party at the Burcht and the river Zaan is nice to walk along. The neighbourhood feels reasonably safe, if something unpleasant were to happen that is seen by residents, I am quite sure they would come to help if needed. Green space is unfortunately somewhat lacking, in principle logical because it's the Randstad but I think it could easily be a lot greener, especially the gardens.
